As I did the big shopping for the long weekend, I was able to keep local for the eggs. Just three doors down from our place on the Third Line between the 10th and 15th, I get wonderful free range brown eggs. I plan on going by bicycle this summer rather driving.

I always get my milk at the Tottenham Health Food Store. It's Harmony Organic from Borholm, Ontario so you know that it's closer than Organic Meadows. You order ahead of time and it's delivered every other Thursday, but it's so fresh, it lasts the two weeks. I always run out and have to resort to the Organic Meadows from Schomberg Foodland or Alliston Zehrs.

Today the chicks arrive at the Tottenham Co-op. We've ordered 30 for meat and 3 for eggs so it won't get more local or free range than that! And great compost for the garden - an all round win!

What I'd really like to find is some local artisan cheese - with all these cows around, there must be somebody making really great cheese right under our noses.

Have a great long weekend!
