On a quest for local organic food in Tottenham Ontario

I am hoping to bring people in the Tottenham area together in a quest to eat local organic food. The purpose of this blog is to have a central place to share information as it is unearthed and get the word out to other people who are interested in eating local organic food.

The only place that I know within the immediate area that grows organic produce is Cookstown Greens. I read recently on their website that they will be putting up a roadside stand to enable the public to stop and pick up produce. At this point, you need to order ahead of time and either pick it up at the farm or have them courier it to you.

I do know that the produce manager at Foodland in Tottenham has been able to source organic garlic grown near Perth Ontario which is within 150 km's of Tottenham. This is a major find as most organic garlic has been coming all the way from China. The company also grows shallots and saskatoon berries so let's show our support by buying this garlic and telling the produce manager that we would also buy the shallots if he brings them in.

I'd like to hear from anybody in the area that has an interest in the local organic produce so we can start sharing ideas.
